Sonali Korde is the MD Anderson Visiting Fellow at the Baker Institute, focused on humanitarian affairs, global health, and foreign policy. She previously led USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance and served as deputy special envoy for Middle East humanitarian issues, helping lead the U.S. response to the Gaza crisis after October 7, 2023. Korde also served on the National Security Council, where she helped launch the Global Health Security Agenda and coordinated responses to outbreaks like Ebola and Zika. With field experience across Africa and the Middle East, she now teaches at Baylor College of Medicine and advises global health NGOs. She holds degrees from Yale and NYU.
