Karen Clune is the Head of Innovation and Development for Youth Impact, where she focuses on strengthening programmatic impact, partnership development, and connecting day-to-day learning with global learning agendas. She brings over 20 years of global development experience. Previously, she was the Innovation Team Lead in USAID’s Global Health Bureau where she identified and developed initiatives, partnerships, and activities to catalyze and accelerate groundbreaking innovations for global health. Most notably, Karen led efforts around the $100M Saving Lives at Birth Grand Challenge partnership and supported projects, which aimed to dramatically reduce maternal and neonatal mortality and stillbirths. Prior to her work at USAID, Karen was the Post-Operative Program Manager with Operation Smile, a Sexual and Reproductive Health Advisor with Peace Corps Jamaica, and a Rural Health Volunteer with Peace Corps Senegal. Karen holds Masters in Public Health in Global Health from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Virginia.
