Claire Wolfer-Jenkins, a 2025 Rice360 Fellow, has been awarded the prestigious Marshall Scholarship, in honor her outstanding academic achievements, leadership, and ambassadorial potential. The 43 recipients of the 2026 Marshall Scholarship will be financed by the British government to study at British universities with the aim to strengthen the enduring relationship between the people of the United States and the United Kingdom.
Through this scholarship, Claire will focus on public health research specializing in socio-behavioral health issues, particularly substance use disorders. She plans to pursue a Master of Science in Public Policy at the University of Edinburgh, followed by a Master of Science in Drug Discovery at the University of Nottingham.
A graduate of Purdue University, Claire earned a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology & Physiology with distinction in just three years. Still in the early stages of her career, she has already reached key milestones, including completing a Biology Honors Thesis in developmental neuroscience and leading a metabolic reconstruction project.
Her accomplishments include her work in an addiction medicine lab at Brown University, where she developed a machine-learning model with applications to treat people with hepatitis C in jails. Claire’s current research focuses on applying machine learning to develop and evaluate improved medical technologies for hospitals in low-resource settings as a Global Health Fellow at the Rice360 Institute for Global Health Technologies.
It is a great honor for Rice360 to have a Marshall Scholarship recipient among its Global Health Fellows. Rice360 congratulates Claire on this outstanding achievement.
