Devika Dua: Editor-In-Chief

From Ruston, Louisiana, Devika is a junior at Rice double majoring in Cell Biology & Genetics and Social Policy Analysis while being on the pre-med track. Being from a small and rural community, she’s especially determined in exploring the social determinants of health and how health equity, policy, and ethics intertwine given the global uncertainty and crisis our current healthcare system faces. Outside of academics, Devika loves exploring local coffee spots, lifting, and listening to Punjabi music!

Karen Ryu: Editor-In-Chief

Karen is a senior at Rice studying Neuroscience and Medical Humanities on the pre-med track. She is interested in exploring global health inequities, language and cultural barriers in medicine, and the impact of policy-level changes on healthcare systems. Outside of academics, she enjoys reading literature, watching musical films, and expanding her violin repertoire.

Chloé Serna: Prose Editor

Chloé is a senior at Rice studying Philosophy and Medical Humanities. She’s drawn to philosophy because it wrestles with questions that rarely have clear-cut answers – something medicine often shares. She’s interested in applying philosophical frameworks to think through the ambiguity inherent in many clinical contexts. In her free time, Chloé enjoys board game nights with her roommates, watercolor painting, photography, and volunteering with the Women’s Resource Center.

Courtney Nelson: Visuals & Layout Editor

Courtney is a sophomore at Rice studying Business (Finance) and Health Sciences. She has previously worked on a magazine for Planned Parenthood, focusing on social advocacy, policy commentary, and interpersonal relationships. She is passionate about sex education, health inequity, food inequity, and social barriers that prevent access to health. Outside of academics, Courtney loves baking, cooking, and biking.

Bethany is a sophomore at Rice University, where she studies Health Sciences, Biochemistry, and Medical Humanities on the pre-med track. Her work centers on the intersections of science, compassion, and community care, where clinical practice meets lived experience. In her free time, you’ll often find her playing violin in orchestra, reading a good mystery novel, or spending time with friends.

Passionate about the intersection of tech and healthcare, he’s especially interested in using data-driven solutions to make medical systems more efficient. Since high school, he has been a writer/editor for a hometown magazine which sparked another interest for him in storytelling and media. For fun, Krishnav loves to watch the NBA, play pickleball, and play the drums.
