About Us

360View is the literary journal of Rice360 Institute for Global Health Technologies, established in 2024. We are a coalition of undergraduate students at Rice University with the united goal of creating an anthology that pushes boundaries. All submissions are reviewed collaboratively by our editorial board with sincere care and gratitude.

Ojas Dumbre: Editor-In-Chief

Hailing from Chicago, Ojas is a senior at Rice studying cultural anthropology with minors in global health and biochemistry on the pre-med track. She is drawn to global health by the barriers that her family has faced in India and is especially interested in sustainable, ethical health systems. Outside of her education, Ojas is a coffee aficionado who loves to sing with her a cappella group and watch historical documentaries.

Alicia Chan: Prose Editor

Alicia is a junior at Rice majoring in Cell Biology and Genetics with a minor in Medical Humanities on the pre-med track. She is especially interested in gender and racial inequalities in medicine, medical histories of different countries, and how to apply this information to improve the current medical field. In her free time, she enjoys dancing with Rice Dance Theater and spending time with friends.

Devika Dua: Prose Editor

From Ruston, Louisiana, Devika is a sophomore at Rice double majoring in Cell Biology & Genetics and Social Policy Analysis while being on the pre-med track. Being from a small and rural community, she’s especially determined in exploring the social determinants of health and how health equity, policy, and ethics intertwine given the global uncertainty and crisis our current healthcare system faces. Outside of her academics, Devika loves to explore local coffee spots, lift, and listen to Punjabi music!

Pedro Garza: Prose Editor

From Laredo, TX, Pedro is a junior at Rice University studying Integrative Biology on the pre-med track. His interests center around public health education and addressing healthcare inequalities among Hispanic/Latino communities. Outside of academics, he enjoys reading, lifting weights, and spending time with family.

Jina Park: Nonfiction Editor

Jina is a senior at Rice University studying English with a minor in Biochemistry and Cell Biology on the pre-medical track. She is fascinated with the intersection between literature and science and is drawn to highlighting the human story within medicine. Outside of class, Jina loves to dance and take naps with her dog. 

Karen Ryu: Nonfiction Editor

Karen is a junior at Rice studying Neuroscience and Medical Humanities on the pre-med track. She is interested in exploring global health inequities, language and cultural barriers in medicine, and the impact of policy-level changes on healthcare systems. Outside of academics, she enjoys reading literature, watching musical films, and expanding her violin repertoire.

 

Risha Manga: Nonfiction Editor

Originally from Memphis, TN, Risha is a sophomore at Rice University majoring in Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology and minoring in both medical humanities and Spanish on the pre-med track. She is interested in understanding healthcare equality and accessibility. In her free time, Risha loves to dance on her dance team and spend time with family and friends. 

Annika Bhananker: Nonfiction Editor

Annika is a senior at Rice studying cultural anthropology with a minor in Medical Humanities and Spanish on the pre-med track. Her interests center primarily in exploring healthcare disparities in emergency care settings and learning more about social justice in the healthcare system through structural competency. Annika is originally a Seattle-ite, and loves to spend time outdoors, exploring new espresso spots, and reading historical fiction books with her cat.

Joy Hyemin Kim: Poetry Editor

Coming from Fort Worth, TX, Joy is a sophomore at Rice studying Neuroscience with a minor in Biochemistry and Cell Biology on the pre-med track. She is interested in understanding the interactive experiences between patients and medical providers and searching for ways to enhance the quality of these interactions. Outside of class, she enjoys journaling, listening to music, and watching movies.

Ana Rivera: Poetry Editor

Ana is a sophomore at Rice University studying Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology, and Sports Analytics on the pre-med track. Her interests center around healthcare equality, racial equality, and access for all, regardless of background. In her free time, Ana likes to listen to music, hang-out with friends, and go to the gym.

Grace Haddad: Poetry Editor

Grace is a sophomore studying neuroscience and English. She is passionate about women’s health, health inequities, addiction science, and the effects of education on health. In her free time, she loves to read, write, paint, and listen to music. 

 

Hai-Van Hoang: Visuals & Layout Editor

Born and raised in Houston, TX, Hai-Van is a junior at Rice studying Health Sciences with a minor in Sociology on the pre-med track. Her interests center around the intersection of race, inequality, and health, and how identity can shape one's lived experiences and well-being. In her free time, she enjoys reading and playing with her two cats.

Erin Kang: Visuals & Layout Editor

Erin is a junior at Rice majoring in sociology and minoring in Art History on the pre-law track. She is interested in learning about mental health, immigration, and public policy. Outside of school, Erin enjoys dancing, crochet, and baking.

Ellena Jeon: Visuals & Layout Editor

From Chandler, AZ, Ellena is a sophomore at Rice University studying Bioengineering on the pre-med track. She is interested in exploring the intersection between health and technology along with making them equitable for all. Outside of class, Ellena likes to scrapbook, paint, and karaoke!
